A Home in Sanremo
Where to buy, what life is like, and how we help you make the City of Flowers your own.
A Riviera Town with a Life of Its Own
Sanremo is a working town of around 53,000 people, with the sea at its front door and the hills at its back.
Days here keep a gentle pace. You can take a morning walk beneath the palms of the Corso Imperatrice, have lunch by the harbour and spend an evening at the Casino or the Ariston. The old seafront railway is now a 24 km path for walking and cycling, from Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo al Mare. The station is in the centre of town, with trains to Genoa and towards Nice. Winters are mild, with January days averaging around 13 °C.
People buy here for different reasons. Some want an apartment in a period building close to the sea and the shops. Others look to the first hills for a villa with a garden, privacy and a view. Some want a second home within reach of Nice airport and Monaco. Whatever brings you, we can help you find the part of town that suits the way you want to live.
Sanremo, Area by Area
Every part of Sanremo has its own character, and its own price. Here is a short guide to the main areas.

The Sanremo You Will Come to Know
Corso Imperatrice and the Russian Church
Sanremo’s tradition of Russian winter visitors, begun by Tsarina Maria Aleksandrovna, lives on in the palms of the Corso Imperatrice and in the town’s Russian Orthodox Church.
Madonna della Costa
Built in 1630 at the top of La Pigna, the sanctuary once served as a beacon for sailors. Today it is the city’s principal religious landmark, with views across the old town.
Villa Nobel
Alfred Nobel’s former home and laboratory are now a museum. Each year Sanremo still sends flowers to decorate the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm on 10 December.
The Gardens of Villa Ormond
A public park near the sea, with ponds, exotic plants and flowers. The villa is a centre for the floral and landscape culture of the western Riviera.
Casino Sanremo
Opened in 1905, the Casino has welcomed guests from around the world for more than a century and is the home of telesina, a form of stud poker. When Italy’s gambling houses closed in 1924, Sanremo’s was the one that stayed open.
Teatro Ariston
Opened in 1963, the Ariston has been home to the Sanremo Music Festival since 1977. The festival began in 1951 in the Casino’s ballroom. The theatre also hosts the Premio Tenco, as well as films and performances through the year.
A Waterfront in Transition
Sanremo’s seafront is changing. The UK investment group Reuben Brothers took a controlling stake in Portosole, the 788-berth marina, in December 2016. In November 2022 the group bought the company behind the redevelopment of the old harbour. That scheme, now put at around €110 million, includes a road tunnel, underground parking and more public space by the sea. The final project is due by 10 November 2026, with work expected to start at the earliest towards the end of 2027. In September 2026 the council also approved guidelines for the waterfront between the two harbours.
