A Home in Taggia and Arma di Taggia
Where to buy, what homes cost and what is changing in the medieval town and its beach resort.
A Medieval Town and Its Beach Resort
Taggia has around 13,000 inhabitants and is listed among I Borghi più belli d’Italia, the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The town has three parts: Taggia itself, the historic centre a little inland in the Argentina valley; Arma, the seaside resort with wide sandy beaches; and Levà, the mainly commercial area in between. Taggia has a station on the Genoa to Ventimiglia line and its own exit on the A10, and the coastal cycle path runs through Arma.
Buyers look at Arma for a holiday apartment by the sand, at the old town for character, or at the valley for a house with olive groves. Average asking prices are below the coast’s average.

A New Heart for Arma
Arma’s long-abandoned former railway station area, known locally as Park 24, is being rebuilt. The first phase, finished between 2024 and 2025, made the structure safe. The second phase, contracted for over €2.3 million and starting in September 2026, adds an urban park, a public square with a small amphitheatre and outdoor sports, and reconnects the coastal cycle path.
A tender for the underground car park beneath it, with around 170 public spaces and 30 private garages, is due by the end of 2026, with work aimed for 2027. The idea is to stitch Arma’s seafront back to the Viale delle Palme and the streets inland.
Timings are the stated aims of councils and developers, and several approvals are still pending.
